Features Of The California Medical Insurance

California Medical Insurance programs have become a problem nowadays because a large number of people do not have a health insurance or are underinsured as the costs of medical services is growing higher and higher and there are many voices out there that claim the need for a dramatic change in the system. Surveys have shown that this is a problem spread all over the United States, but has a higher impact in California.

According to recent surveys, more than 18% of the population of which 20% is represented by the elderly people in the state of California does not have medical coverage. One of the reasons for this is that there are a lot of immigrants in California and, among them, 52% of those who have not been present in the state for more than 5 years are not covered by California Medical Insurance. Even among those who have been living in California for a period longer than 5 years there are almost 40% uncovered. The ones who are the most likely to be insured are children under the age of 18 years, but still, they can be left without a medical insurance when they will be over18 because they will be no longer come under the medical insurance plan from their parents.

A new project was proposed in 2005, during a debate at the Senate in California. The project could be a solution, given the current situation. The proposal is based on single medical insurance plane, a non-profit one, with no deductibles and only one payer-system. In this case, the residents of California could go to any physician that they choose; any hospital and they will have a guarantee from the insurers for any necessary medicine or other treatment. This will lead to a significant improvement. However, for implementing a social program of such kind, there are still problems at the political and economic level.

In regard to the types of medical insurances, as in other parts of the world, we can find the same in California including: health insurances for individuals, health insurances for families, health insurances for groups, health insurances for self-employees, health insurances for children, health insurances for students, health insurances on short term, health insurances for long term, health insurances for small businesses. Although it has its own problems, the California Medical Insurance system can be improved in so that the state's population can enjoy support on issues that have direct impact on their health. It is a matter of political will and a good economic strategy.
